About Us
Denaby Main is a former mining village with an approximate population of 5000 inhabitants. It is situated on the boundary of Doncaster MBC and the Dearne Valley. Built, originally to house the workers of the two collieries of Denaby Main and Cadeby it suffered as a result of both collieries being closed in 1968 and 1986 respectively. The loss of the main employer in the area along with the demise of the other collieries in the Yorkshire Coalfield brought a government response in the form of Dearne Valley Partnership and City Challenge Funding.
Dearne Valley Partnership's role was to bring about the regeneration of the area. Denaby Main benefited from the Partnership involvement in the refurbishment of new housing on Craggs Road and the funding of a local Neighbourhood Worker. The Neighbourhood Worker carried out research in the area and put together a programme to address the many issues being faced within the community.
The Denaby Main Forum meets on the second Tuesday in each month and continues to provide a voice for all sections of the community.
The completion of a Training and Enterprise Centre in 2004 for the people of Denaby Main and becoming a Company Limited by Guarantee, Company Registration number: 5044921, with Charitable Status, Charity Registration number: 1107430, brought about a successful end to the year.
